This piece explores the idea of change and transformation. A cocoon, seed-like shape is opening, revealing an abstract entity or idea. The butterfly, moth and bird are loosely suggested. This artwork is a continuation of the mural painted for the Kettle Society entitled ‘Imaginal Discs’ which depicted abstractions of butterflies and moths. Imaginal Discs are the cells that caterpillars are born with that are the building blocks for the features of the butterfly. They are the main cells that survive through the uncomfortable process of metamorphosis.

Nature is an ever-present theme in my work illuminating the connection that humans have to their natural environment.
